Steel Plate Shot - Blasting Pretreatment Line

1. Overview


The steel plate shot - blasting pretreatment line is mainly used for pre - treatment operations such as cleaning and strengthening the surface of steel plates. High - speed shot media are projected by shot - blasting equipment to strike the surface of the steel plates, removing rust, scale, oil stains and other impurities. To a certain extent, it also increases the surface roughness of the steel plates, so as to enhance the effect of subsequent coating or other processing procedures.

2. Process Flow

(1) Loading


The steel plates to be processed are hoisted or transported to the loading station of the pretreatment line by equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts. It is ensured that the steel plates can enter the production line accurately and smoothly.

(2) Surface Cleaning


  • Pre - heating: Some pretreatment lines may have a pre - heating stage. Heating equipment is used to appropriately increase the surface temperature of the steel plates. This helps to better remove oil stains and other impurities during the subsequent shot - blasting process. The pre - heating temperature is usually set from several tens of degrees Celsius to more than 100 degrees Celsius, depending on factors such as the material of the steel plate and the condition of the oil stains.

  • Shot - blasting Treatment: This is the core step. The shot - blasting machine projects shot media (such as steel shots, cut wire shots, etc.) towards the surface of the steel plates through a high - speed rotating impeller. The speed of the shot media can reach dozens of meters per second or even higher. Under the impact of the shot media, rust, scale, oil stains, etc. on the surface of the steel plates are strongly removed, and a certain roughness is formed on the surface of the steel plates at the same time. The shot - blasting amount, shot - blasting angle, shot - blasting speed and other parameters of the shot - blasting machine can be adjusted according to the thickness and material of the steel plates and the required treatment effect.

  • Shot Media Recovery and Separation: The shot media used in the shot - blasting process will scatter around the steel plates and inside the equipment. A special recovery system is needed to collect them. The collected shot media will enter a separation device to separate the intact shot media from the broken shot media, dust and other impurities. The intact shot media can be recycled again to reduce costs.

(3) Surface Inspection and Repair


After the shot - blasting treatment, the staff will inspect the surface of the steel plates to check whether there are uncleaned areas and whether there is any damage caused by shot - blasting on the surface. If necessary, manual cleaning or repair treatment will be carried out on the uncleaned parts to ensure that the surface of the steel plates meets the requirements of subsequent processes.

(4) Anti - rust Treatment


In order to prevent the steel plates from rusting again during the subsequent storage or processing, the steel plates after shot - blasting pretreatment will be treated with anti - rust measures. Common anti - rust treatment methods include spraying anti - rust paint and applying anti - rust oil. The choice of anti - rust paint or anti - rust oil is determined according to factors such as the use of the steel plates, the requirements of subsequent processing and the storage environment.

(5) Unloading


After all the above pretreatment processes are completed, the steel plates are transported out of the pretreatment line through unloading equipment (such as conveyor belts, overhead cranes, etc.) and sent to the next processing process or storage area.

3. Equipment Composition

(1) Loading Equipment


Such as overhead cranes, forklifts, loading roller tables, etc., which are used to transport steel plates to the starting position of the pretreatment line.

(2) Pre - heating Equipment


For example, gas - fired heating furnaces, electric heating furnaces, etc., which are used for pre - heating steel plates.

(3) Shot - blasting Equipment


Including the main body of the shot - blasting machine, shot - blasting devices, shot media supply systems, shot media recovery and separation systems, etc. It is the key equipment for realizing shot - blasting treatment.

(4) Surface Inspection Equipment


It can be manual inspection with hand - held lighting tools and detection tools. There are also some automatic surface inspection equipment, such as laser scanners, which are used for fast and accurate detection of the surface condition of steel plates.

(5) Anti - rust Treatment Equipment


Such as spray guns, coating machines, etc., which are used to apply anti - rust paint to steel plates.
