Powder Coating of Venetian Blind Robots
Powder coating is a surface treatment technology used to apply a uniform layer of powder coating on the surface of venetian blinds and other metal products. Robot powder coating utilizes industrial robots to carry out this coating operation.
Robots can precisely control the movement trajectory of the spray gun, spraying speed, coating flow rate and other parameters. Compared with traditional manual spraying, it can achieve a more uniform coating quality, improve production efficiency and reduce paint waste.
Surface Pretreatment
This is a crucial step to ensure good adhesion of the powder coating line. For venetian blinds, oil removal treatment should be carried out first, as the surface may be contaminated with oil during the manufacturing process. Usually, alkaline cleaners are used for cleaning. The venetian blinds are soaked in an appropriate concentration of alkaline solution and then rinsed clean with clear water.
Rust removal is also an important part, especially for iron venetian blinds. Rust on the surface can be removed by pickling or mechanical grinding. Pickling generally uses acidic solutions such as hydrochloric acid. After rust removal, neutralization treatment and rinsing again are required to prevent the residual acid solution from corroding the metal. Mechanical grinding uses tools such as sandpaper and grinding wheels to grind off the rust.
Electrostatic Powder Spraying
The robot carries a spray gun and sprays the powder coating through an electrostatic spray gun. During this process, the powder coating is given an electrostatic charge, while the venetian blinds are usually grounded, so that the powder coating will be adsorbed on the surface of the venetian blinds under the action of electrostatic attraction.
The programming of the robot is very important during the spraying process. It needs to plan the movement path of the spray gun according to the shape, size and spraying requirements of the venetian blinds. For example, for the slats of the venetian blinds, the robot should ensure that the spray gun can evenly cover both the front and back sides of each slat and that there is also good coating coverage on the edges of the slats.
Curing
The sprayed venetian blinds need to enter a curing oven for curing. The curing temperature and time depend on the type of powder coating. Generally speaking, the curing temperature of thermosetting powder coatings is about 180 - 200 °C, and the curing time is 10 - 20 minutes.
During the curing process, the powder coating will undergo a chemical reaction and change from a loose powder state to a hard and smooth coating. The cured coating can provide good corrosion resistance, wear resistance and decorative properties.

Robot Equipment
It is necessary to choose industrial robots suitable for spraying venetian blinds. Generally, robots with high movement precision are required, which can flexibly operate on the complex surface of venetian blinds. For example, six-axis industrial robots are commonly used. Their six joints can achieve a variety of complex motion postures to meet the spraying needs in the narrow spaces between the slats of venetian blinds.
The load capacity of the robot also needs to be considered. It should be able to easily carry an electrostatic spray gun and related auxiliary equipment, such as coating delivery pipes.
Powder Coatings
There are many types of powder coatings, including epoxy powder coatings, polyester powder coatings, etc. Epoxy powder coatings have good adhesion and corrosion resistance and are suitable for venetian blinds with high protection requirements, such as outdoor venetian blinds. Polyester powder coatings have good decorative properties, with bright colors and high gloss, and are often used for indoor decorative venetian blinds.
The particle size of the coating is also important. Generally, powder coatings with a moderate particle size are selected so that the fluidity and adsorption of the coating can achieve better results during the electrostatic spraying process.
